Welcome to suneeta.co.uk

Ever since I can remember, fashion, sewing and fabric have always gone hand in hand. My first port of inspiration came about on a trip to India, when aged 16 I found myself in surroundings filled with delicate and iridescent fabric with exquisite embroidery and ornate beading. The rows of small busy shops with voluminous quantities of neatly folded fabric in every style and in a spectrum of colours. This experience installed my passion for all Indian things, especially fabric, which I have now been collecting for over 20 years.

I initially began sewing at home for myself, customising high street clothing for a better fit and make them different. I dreaded the thought of wearing the same outfit as someone else. I continued to sew and upcycle garments in my spare time through the remainder of school, college and university to maintain my wardrobe. It was only when I took some time out that I made the decision to pursue this love of mine and take it to a new level.

I then went on to study art and a Diploma in fashion skills. During my final year it was necessary for me to complete a year long project on a topic of my choice for extensive exploration. I chose to amalgamate two inspirational subjects close to my heart. "Recycling in India" reconnected my affections with this initial vivacious and colourful topic, as well as my ongoing involvement with recycling and being environmentally friendly.

A few years on, I have finally managed to fulfil my desire. With the help and support of amazing family and friends I have now created suneeta.co.uk, an online clothing boutique, so that I may showcase and share my work and designs.

Every item is completely unique and is a one off, individually designed and hand-crafted by myself. I never make two of the same items in the same fabric (not even in a different size). I only work with vintage fabrics as I feel they add beauty to the garments I design. All fabrics used are specifically sourced from around the world and personally hand picked so that I may be sure of its vintage authenticity. However due to the nature of the vintage Indian fabrics used there can be irregular patterns, slight colour variation and loose threads in the decorative stitching which may lead to missing beads or sequins. These variations will only compliment the true uniqueness and exquisite design of the garment.

My roots and upbringing have certainly influenced my own personal fashion style along with my designs which can only be described as a fusion of East meets West. I believe that any piece, in any of my collections, offers a style of couture for those who aspire to be true to themselves and not mass produced; to stand out from the crowd in a chic and sophisticated manner and to favour and applaud originality.

May I wish you a wonderful and exceptional shopping experience.
